Political Journey


1982 - he was elected to the board of a cooperative sugar factory . 

1991 - He was elected chairman of the Pune District Co-operative Bank and remained in the post for 16 years. During this period he was also elected as Member of parliament, Lok Sabha from the Baramati. Thereafter, he was elected as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Baramati. 

He became minister of state for Agriculture and Power 

1992 - 1993

Later he became minister of state for Soil Conservation, Power and Planning 

1999 - 2004

Pawar was promoted to cabinet minister, firstly in the Irrigation Department. He was given additional charge of the Rural Development Department in Sushilkumar Shinde's government. 

2019

From 23rd to 26th November 2019 He became Deputy CM with the shortest tenure for less than 80 hours. On 30th December 2019 he became the 8th Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra
